Sightings

Our total of dragonfly and damselfly species has increased to 23 (out of 33 confirmed species in the whole of Oxfordshire). Local environmentalists Adam Hartley and Matthew Lloyd have recorded the first-ever reliable sighting of a rare Southern Migrant Hawker dragonfly: a male, seen on 17th July patrolling the northern boundary ditch. The next day another (or the same one?) was seen at the southern end of the boardwalk, just before the Dragonfly Pond. They also noted 3 Brown Hawkers, 5+ Common Darters, 1 Ruddy Darter, a few Blue-tailed Dragonflies and Small Red-eyed Damselflies.
